Sky to Remake Blake's 7
The Guardian is reporting that Sky One is planning a remake of British cult Sci-Fi classic Blake's 7. When the original BBC screens in 1978 it became a classic, pulling in 11 million viewers, despite its limited budget and pre-digital special effects.
So far they're only commissioning two 60-minute pilot scripts, so that's not a firm green light. Sky did the same with The Prisoner a few years ago - there was a big fuss made that they were going to make a new version, but it never got past the script stage.
Given the massive success of the new Doctor Who, it was only a matter of time before other companies started scouring their old TV guides to find old sci-fi franchises ripe for a remake. I'm waiting for Space:1999! :)
